Are Electric Bikes good for Exercising?

There have been several debates and arguments that riding an electric bike is not as active as riding a regular bike. Some people are even of the opinion that riding electric bikes is a lazy activity. This is due to the fact that they believe that you don’t put in the same level of effort or physical activity when riding an e-bike. However, this isn’t necessarily true. A study by University of Colorado Boulder affirmed that riding electric bikes improves the cardiovascular health of riders and is a fantastic way to keep in shape. 20 volunteers were recruited for the study, provided with electric bikes, GPS, heart monitors and were asked to ride the bike for a minimum of 40 minutes per session, and three times a week for a period of a month. At the end of the period it was deduced that the riders were healthier, fitter, had less body fat and better blood sugar control. Participants also reported that riding was fun and they were motivated to exercise more.
