There have been several debates and arguments that riding an electric bike is not as active as riding a regular bike. Some people are even of the opinion that riding electric bikes is a lazy activity. This is due to the fact that they believe that you don’t put in the same level of effort or physical activity when riding an e-bike. However, this isn’t necessarily true. Riding an ebike also requires some effort and the upside is that it provides a degree of flexibility for people who want to choose the level of intensity or physical exertion during cycling.

If you are in your middle age; 50 years and above, this ebike will make you feel young again. Riding of electric bikes allows people who are old, physically weak, or recuperating from an injury to stay active and improve their strength. This is because you don’t need to put in too much effort while riding; you get the same feeling of riding a bicycle when you were younger. In essence, an ebike makes cycling fun for you again.

Electric bikes usually combine the features of a regular bike with a battery and motor that offer pedal assistance and throttle power, help you climb hills, and conserve your energy. Most electric bikes have different levels of electric motor assistance; they are designed such that you can choose how much effort you want to put into pedaling. The idea is to be able to get some exercise but have assistance for the hills, rough terrains and to keep up with fitter ride partners.

Electric bikes generally allows for more aerobic workouts. You can ride, enjoy the fresh air, and build up your strength without putting in strenuous efforts into the exercise. While riding an ebike you might sweat less but still have enough body movement to burn calories. With an ebike you no longer have to experience chronic pain after riding, these bikes will make you feel young again, you can ride like an athlete without the fear of experiencing fatigue.

With an electric bike you can even get as much exercise as riding a regular bike if you wish to. A good example of a way to take advantage of the electric bike is to use the electric motor in the mornings on the way to work and then ride mostly without pedal assistance on the way home. This way you don’t break a sweat on your way to work in the morning, but can get the exercise on the way home.

A study by University of Colorado Boulder affirmed that riding electric bikes improves the cardiovascular health of riders and is a fantastic way to keep in shape. 20 volunteers were recruited for the study, provided with electric bikes, GPS, heart monitors and were asked to ride the bike for a minimum of 40 minutes per session, and three times a week for a period of a month. At the end of the period it was deduced that the riders were healthier, fitter, had less body fat and better blood sugar control. Participants also reported that riding was fun and they were motivated to exercise more.

Obviously, riding electric bikes is a fun activity and it gives you a lot of options to stay in shape and improve your health. Electric bikes are the real deal, they offer perfect control, speed, and you get fun exercises and better physical fitness. If you haven’t taken a ride on an electric bike before, you have been missing out on something good, you should get a test ride and also buy one as a gift for yourself.
